Sandown Dolphinarium

Sandown Dolphinarium or the Isle of Wight Dolphinarium was located on the sea front of Sandown slightly further south than the pier. A modern block of flats/shops now occupies the site.  Ted Cowell operated the dolphinarium and the dolphins displayed here were owned by Aquatic Mammal Enterprises (owned by American Charlie Riggs) based in Florida. After the show closed, the dolphins returned to Florida. One of the dolphins however was owned by Cowell that spent some time at Woburn Safari Park.
