Seaburn Zoo World (Ocean Park/Ocean Land), Seaburn, Sunderland

Seaburn Zoo world was situated near the seafront in the Seaburn district of Sunderland. It is believed to have been on or very close to the site of the recent "Seaburn Fun Fair", next to the Mere Knowlls Cemetary. The site was redeveloped in the 80s and a supermarket was built as well as the current funfair space. The owners of the fun fair didn't pay the rent, so the site is currently abandoned.

Plans were first made (by John Collins, owner of the fair) to open the dolphinarium and swimming pool in 1973. The park was rented by Seldons and Bellerby. The Sea World part of the park was indoors and did not last very long. According to one past visitor the park housed a Killer Whale at some point. In 1978 the future of the park was questioned as rumors that the council wanted to close it spread.
Among other animals, the zoo housed Monkeys and was part of a complex that included a play park, crazy golf ("putt-putt"), ski slope, bar, fair, hotel and nightclub. The play park lasted well into the 80s.
